With less than a month to go before the 2012 NFL Draft, the Cowboys began hosting possible prospects for the 18th overall pick on Monday.
The team will bring in between 28-30 national prospects. Among the expected vistors are safeties Kenny Vaccaro (Texas), Eric Reid (LSU) and Jonathan Cyprien (Florida International), guard Chance Warmack (Alabama), tackle D.J. Fluker (Alabama), tackle Terron Armstead (Arkansas-Pine Bluff) and running backs Le’Veon Bell (Michigan State) and Joseph Randle (Oklahoma State).
The top pick has been among the pre-draft visitors every year between 2006-2011, including linebacker Bobby Carpenter, linebacker Anthony Spencer, linebacker Jason Williams, running back Felix Jones, receiver Dez Bryant and tackle Tyron Smith. That string was broken last year when the Cowboys traded up from 14 to sixth overall to pick cornerback Morris Claiborne.
Of course 2005, they drafted DeMarcus Ware first and he didn’t make a pre-draft visit. That seemed to turn out okay too.
